Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Telecoms Engineer specialising in the installation of hosted phone systems to join our dynamic team. The Telecoms Engineer will be responsible for the design, installation, configuration, and support of hosted VoIP (Voice over IP) phone systems for our business clients. This role involves working closely with customers to understand their communication needs, ensuring the successful deployment and integration of phone systems, and providing ongoing support to ensure optimal system performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. System Design and Pre-Installation Planning:
o Assess client communication needs and design customized hosted VoIP solutions that meet their specific requirements.
o Conduct site surveys to evaluate network infrastructure, cabling, and hardware requirements for system installation.
o Collaborate with sales and project management teams to develop detailed implementation plans and timelines.
o Prepare technical documentation, including system configurations, network diagrams, and installation guides.
2. Installation and Configuration:
o Install and configure hosted phone systems, including PBX servers, IP phones, routers, switches and Starlink.
o Ensure proper network setup, including QoS (Quality of Service) settings, VLANs, and SIP trunking to support high-quality voice communication.
o Configure phone system features such as call routing, voicemail, auto-attendant, call queues, and extensions according to client specifications.
o Perform integration with existing IT infrastructure, including CRM systems, email, and other communication tools.
3. Customer Training and Handover:
o Provide comprehensive training to end-users and administrators on how to use and manage the hosted phone system.
o Create and distribute user manuals and training materials tailored to the client’s system configuration.
o Conduct post-installation follow-ups to ensure that the system is functioning correctly and to address any initial issues or questions.
4. System Testing and Troubleshooting:
o Perform rigorous testing of the installed system to ensure it meets quality standards and client expectations.
o Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during installation, including connectivity problems, hardware failures, and configuration errors.
o Provide remote and on-site technical support to diagnose and resolve issues with hosted phone systems.
o Work with third-party vendors and service providers to address network or service-related issues.
5. Ongoing Support and Maintenance:
o Offer ongoing support and maintenance for hosted phone systems, including software updates, security patches, and system upgrades.
o Monitor system performance and make necessary adjustments to improve efficiency and reliability.
o Respond to client service requests and ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
o Maintain detailed records of system configurations, changes, and client interactions for future reference.
6. Compliance and Security:
o Ensure all installed systems comply with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
o Implement security measures to protect phone systems from unauthorized access, data breaches, and other threats.
o Regularly review and update security protocols and configurations to maintain system integrity.
7. Customer Relationship Management:
o Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as their primary point of contact for telecom services.
o Provide proactive advice and recommendations on system enhancements, new features, and additional services.
o Gather client feedback to continually improve the quality of service and customer satisfaction.
8. Project Management:
o Manage installation projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
o Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and third-party providers to ensure smooth project execution.
o Prepare and submit project status reports to stakeholders, detailing progress, challenges, and resolutions.
9. Continuous Improvement:
o Stay current with the latest trends and technologies in hosted VoIP systems and telecommunications.
o Participate in training and certification programs to enhance technical knowledge and skills.
o Contribute to the development of best practices for hosted phone system installation and support.
Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, SIP School Certified Associate) are advantageous.
* Working at heights and IPAF certification would be advantageous.
* Experience: 3+ years of experience in telecommunications engineering, with a focus on installing and supporting hosted VoIP phone systems for businesses.
Technical Skills:
* Strong understanding of VoIP technologies, including SIP, RTP, QoS, and codecs.
* Experience with hosted systems, such as 3CX, Callswitch One, Eve.
* Proficiency in configuring IP phones, softphones, and VoIP gateways.
* Knowledge of network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, switches, and VLANs.
* Familiarity with SIP trunking, porting processes, and number management.
Soft Skills:
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

Working Conditions:
* Environment: On-site installations and site surveys required, throughout the UK. Predominantly NW England.
* Physical Requirements: The position will require lifting and installing telecom equipment, working in server rooms, and occasionally working outside normal business hours.
* Travel: Regular travel to client sites within the UK is required, with occasional overnight stays depending on project location.

Pay: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
