IT & Digital Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) is responsible for the management of ADMS and other operational control systems within National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED). ADMS is the NMS (network management system) used by Control Engineers and Operations teams as well as an OMS (outage management system) used by Dispatchers and Contact Centre teams.
You will be responsible for testing new and incremental releases of software across IT&D CNI. Additionally, testing existing applications, software and components against new Operating systems, databases and other third-party software patches and updates.
National Grid is hiring for our Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) team in Castle Donington, Derby.
Key Accountabilities
* Development and execution of test scripts and procedures for the IT & Digital CNI software portfolio including ADMS, following an industry recognised Test Lifecycle Management framework, including: Test Analysis, Test Planning, Test Development, Test Environment Setup, Test Execution and Closure.
* Application Defect Management, following a recognised Defect Lifecycle Management framework, Including Capture, Assignment, Resolution and Testing.
* Co-ordination with the CNI departments’ teams, NGED IT&D teams and other key internal and external stakeholders; working with external software suppliers to report and resolve defects.
* Assist the CNI departments’ teams to catalogue, analyse, report and test issues with the software portfolio.
* Develop test scenarios to ensure quality control using automation where possible.
* Work with NGED IT&D to establish test/debug test environments, where appropriate.
About You
* You will be expected to have some experience with the software portfolio used within NGED IT&D departments, which includes GE ADMS or similar software.
* Good understanding of IT Systems, Databases (SQL), Interfaces (APIs), Data Validation.
* Good understanding of test frameworks and methodologies, including automated testing.
* Good understanding/use of one or more programming/scripting languages is highly desirable.
* Good logical thinking and analytical skills.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills including report writing, presentation skills and an ability to communicate at all levels.
* Understanding of Software Patch Management and its role within Vulnerability Management.
* Understanding of Cybersecurity and its role within CNI environments.

A competitive salary between £39,057 – £45,757 – dependent on capability.
