Job Title: Head Cook
Location: Meadowfields Care Home, ST18 0RD.

Working Hours: 40 hours per week

Duties will include:
9. To prepare and cook meals including freshly baked cakes to an excellent standard.
10. To prepare puree foods and meals to an excellent standard.
11. Direct, prepare or supervise cooking and other food preparation activities on a daily basis
12. Monitor and oversee sanitation practices to ensure that regulations and standards of cleanliness are always being strictly adhered to by employees. Make corrections as needed when standards are not being followed
13. Coordinate all food purchasing, budgeting and planning operations with other staff members
14. Analyse recipes and make menu changes when necessary to keep residents happy and minimize overhead costs when possible
15. Inspect cooking equipment, supplies, work areas and ingredients to ensure constant conformance to regulatory standards
16. Knowledge of food-related curriculum and training techniques
17. Understanding of raw materials, quality control and other techniques for the effective creation and distribution of food products
18. Knowledge of food preparation regulations and standards
19. Ability to use common kitchen tools, including cutlery, graters and ranges
20. To work to a Rota as required.
21. To attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
22. Undertake training regarding COSHH and attend regular reviews and updates.
23. Attend employment appraisals with a designated members of staff.
24. Be aware of Fire Procedure and attend six-monthly reviews.
25. To ensure all Record-Keeping is completed and up to date.
26. To be responsible for the preparation, and cooking of meals. To ensure the Healthy diet of all service users.
27. To advise the Manager of stock control and to be in control of the ordering of food and goods.
The successful candidate will have:
28. Cooking: 4 years (preferred)
29. Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (required)
