Rainbows are currently looking for a qualified and experienced Band 6 Deputy Lead Nurse to join our dedicated and supportive care team here at the Hospice in Loughborough. Our Nursing team provides a high standard of care for babies, children, and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
If you can demonstrate experience working with babies, children, and young people with complex care needs and are passionate about providing a high standard of nursing care in a family-led environment, we would like to hear from you.
As a Deputy Lead Nurse, you will lead a small team of Nurses and HCA’s, providing symptom management, palliative and end-of-life care, and planned short breaks at the hospice. We offer 1:1 nursing to all babies, children, and young people at the hospice. You will work within a multidisciplinary team made up of various skilled members, including Music therapists, complementary therapists, and our non-medical workforce team of ACP’s.
Rainbows Hospice is available for families all year, 24 hours a day; we therefore operate on a shift basis to provide the best possible service.
Benefits of working at Rainbows:
* Opportunity for current NHS pension scheme members to transfer their membership
* Free car parking on site at the Hospice
* Generous annual leave entitlement plus bank holidays
* Established Training programme that will enable you to comply with NMC registration.
* Training and support in palliative care
* Time to care for patients. Each baby, child, and young person has 1:1 care
* Working within a supportive team with specialist knowledge
* Subsidised freshly cooked meals whilst on shift at the Hospice
* Free access to Health Assured employee assistance programme
* Wellbeing support and access to Mental Health First Aiders
About the Role
As a Rainbows Band 6 Deputy Lead Nurse, you will be responsible for line managing a small team of staff and identifying training and development needs through the appraisal process. You will provide shift-by-shift clinical leadership and act as Shift Coordinator as necessary, taking responsibility for decisions made and for the management of staff on shift.
Key Duties Include:
* Ensure team working principles are in place throughout the shift.
* Support the Lead Nurse and Head of Hospice and Community Services in their roles and promote the vision, mission, and values of the Hospice.
* Planning and implementing care for children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions within the hospice.
* Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care of children and young people in partnership with them and their parents/guardians.
* Providing excellent short break, palliative, and end-of-life care at Rainbows in a family-centered environment in conjunction with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
* Ensuring all procedures are carried out in accordance with local and national policies in force within the Hospice.
* Further responsibilities in the role of a Band 6 Nurse at Rainbows can be found by downloading the Job Description.
