Senior Radiography Inspector
12 month contract - Rate PAYE: £37.82 + £5.50 holiday pay or UMB: £48.99 - 3 on 4 off shift, 12 hours day shift
To work as part of a team to provide Radiography and supplementary NDE support to the business, specifically on high integrity pipework and structure welding on submarines:
1. Strong understanding of the end-to-end process of Radiography principles and applying these to support submarine build.
2. Conversant with the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 and radiological safety in industrial environments.
3. Carrying out routine work with limited supervision and complex tasks under direct supervision in their related area.
4. Open Shop (Site Radiography), which involves moving around the Barrow site and on board Submarine build.
5. Being able to access, have a clear understanding of and apply the Quality and Management Systems documentation e.g. Process Instructions, Workmanship Standards and Risk Assessments applicable to your particular work scope and obeying all Hs & E rules and control measures.
6. Liaising/Interfacing with appropriate areas both internally and externally to ensure work schedule and results are communicated to the appropriate areas.
7. Understanding and interpreting Radiography Techniques, highlighting any non-conformances for inspections undertaken and reporting via SAP and the relevant Data Bases.
8. Reporting results of Inspections using agreed processes.
9. Using Company Computer Systems Software as appropriate.
10. Positive engagement with stakeholders on radiography activities.
11. Providing support and guidance on the build process throughout a multi-disciplined environment.
12. Offering advice on radiography best practice activities across submarines.
13. Highly proficient in the use of radiographic inspection equipment.
14. Interpreting and applying Gamma and X-ray techniques for compound and site Radiography.
15. Supporting supplementary surface inspections such as DPI and MPI.
16. Updating and recording findings in the quality repositories for report storage.
17. Supporting the learning and on-the-job training of S2 radiography inspectors.
18. Carrying out routine maintenance and functional checks on processing equipment and supporting calibration of equipment.
19. Carrying out daily function and safety checks on Radiography enclosures.
20. Input on radiation protection discussions with colleagues in the department.
21. Being part of a contingency team for radiation contingency plans.

1. PCN Level 2 Radiography (Welds)

3. PCN Level 2 qualifications (NDE) – Dye-Penetrant Inspection
4. Ability to operate Radiographic equipment and translate data
5. Understanding of Ionising Radiations Regulations (IRR 2017)
6. Sound computer skills in Microsoft Office suite
7. Good knowledge of IRR 2017
8. PCN ARS Qualification
9. Experience working with Gamma Radiography (Ir192 & Se75)
10. Knowledge and understanding of various structural & pipework practices.
