THE ROLE An exciting 12-month FTC opportunity as a Finance Business Analyst within Entertainment, offering hands-on experience in a production environment. Entertainment, the UK division of Global Entertainment, produces over 900 hours of content a year. Productions include Strictly Come Dancing - the biggest entertainment juggernaut in the UK, the nation's much loved daily Morning Live & The One Show, and a hugely impressive slate of Unscripted returners including Weakest Link, Dragons Den, Amazing Hotels and Countryfile. The Finance Business Analyst will play a pivotal role in providing financial analysis and insights that support the efficient management and profitability of Entertainment Production. The role will provide financial planning support to the finance team and production business to enable the business to make effective commercial decisions. The ideal candidate will work closely with the finance team, production departments, Production Accountants and Business Partners. Key Responsibilities Budgeting & Forecasting Manage and produce the on-going Production Pipeline for budgeting, forecasting & long-term financial planning plan process, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of financial assumptions. Manage the rolling cash-flow forecast with support from the Management accountants, leading on the key drivers and aligning closely with the Production accountants to ensure timely & accurate billing. Manage the relationship investment finance counterpart to ensure all forecast financial assumptions are aligned. Financial Reporting & Analysis: Produce both monthly and quarterly reporting requirements and key performance metrics for Global Entertainment HQ. Work closely with the Management Accountants to ensure accurate period end close Support on the monthly review of Management Information including P&L and overheads, Balance Sheet & Cashflow, managing any outstanding monthly items that call for action, including Deferred income, WIP & WIP Accruals. Produce insight to Track performance against financial targets, identifying risks and opportunities in real-time. Produce the financial slate & analysis for the monthly sub-genre business review meetings, supporting the business stakeholders on the interpretation of the financial headlines. Resolve specific and on-going financial and business issues and problems to in a timely manner Ad Hoc analytical work as required Cost Control & Efficiencies Work closely with production teams to monitor costs, identify risks, and manage variances against budgets across the production slate. Support ad hoc reporting requirements for both finance and production leadership, including recommendations and alignment to business strategy Support the business on the Advances Monitoring report & all expense queries (both overhead & production) Monthly tracking of Production staffing downtime being key point of contact for any issues requiring escalation to Head of Finance. Compliance & Risk Management Produce the output for the financial audits, addressing any related queries or findings. Play an active role in the weekly genre approval boards, with ownership of capturing all the greenlight/amberlight productions & approvals, and the accurate & timely translation into the production pipeline. Produce & manage the pre-expenditure production report across all sub-genres. Process Improvement Identify areas for improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting. Support any initiatives of financial systems and tools to streamline budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities. Stakeholder Management The role will have regular contact with the business area through face-to-face meetings, building and developing strong relationships which allows for providing support to all aspects of budgeting & forecasting. The role will support the Head of Finance and act as a liaison between the finance department and production teams to ensure financial targets are understood, and maintain an effective and collaborative working relationships across the Finance community The role will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders including: Key business stakeholders Production Accounting team Business Partners Management Accountants Wider Production Finance Team WHAT DOES IT TAKE? Knowledge and Skills Modelling, budgeting and forecasting Financial analysis and reporting to financial and non-financial stakeholders Technical Accounting knowledge desirable SAP experience Proficient Microsoft Office skills Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders. Strong numerical and analytical skills reflecting an ability to manipulate and interpret data, to provide meaningful and useful analysis for decision making purposes. Ability to take complex data/principles and to communicate these in an understandable way to the wider BBC Studios team. Ability to work autonomously and use initiative Proactive and self-motivated with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities against conflicting deadlines. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights. Location: Office Base is London Television Centre.
