THE ROLE This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join the Digital News and Streaming Finance team within BBC Studios. The team supports our global direct to consumer news and factual businesses including BBC.com and our syndicated streaming services. The Finance Business Analyst will support the Finance Business Partner responsible for strategic financial planning and analysis activities. They will deliver routine and ad hoc analysis and insight, and model future financial scenarios to support key decisions and ensure robust financial forecasting. They will assist in setting financial KPIs, and in identifying opportunities to improve revenue performance and maximise profit margins. Key responsibilities and accountabilities Assist in shaping long-term financial strategy through establishing a data-led approach and engaging with finance counterparts and the business to align key assumptions Contribute to the preparation of business cases, investment proposals and key projects, providing relevant analysis and insight to assess financial impact Support the finance team and wider business (including audio, sales, marketing, content and product divisions) in building annual business plans to inform the financial budget and forecasts Assist in identifying business drivers and developing a dashboard of key financial metrics to monitor and drive business performance Provide regular and ad hoc reporting and analysis to the wider business to inform key decisions and activities, include ongoing monitoring of initiative performance against financial and non-financial KPIs and project cost tracking Work with counterparts across the business to build robust and efficient data processes to improve business decisions and performance WHAT DOES IT TAKE? ESSENTIAL CRITERIA; Advanced Excel skills with experience in analysing and modelling large data sets Previous experience of budgeting, business planning and forecasting Able to build and maintain effective working relationships across the organisation and work collaboratively across multiple functions Able to simplify and confidently communicate complex financial information to key stakeholders Able to prioritise and manage time effectively, managing deadlines and conflicting demands and using initiative to resolve day-to-day problems.
