The King Edward VII Memorial Hospital is looking for an experienced dual qualified registered midwife/nurse seeking work in a friendly and supportive team which provides excellent care for patients. The King Edward VII Memorial Hospital is the principal healthcare facility in the Falkland Islands, providing primary care and a broad range of elective and emergency secondary care services. The hospital is well equipped with ambitious plans being developed to expand and upgrade facilities. Maternity care is provided by a small, friendly team comprising two midwives and GPs with additional postgraduate training in Obstetrics plus periodic input from visiting obstetricians. Both home birth and hospital birth are offered. Around 25 – 30 births are expected annually. The local context is one in which midwifery care of the highest standard is able to be provided including continuity of care and responsiveness to the needs of the individual woman. There is considerable scope for clinician-led service development and innovation. The hospital environment generally is one in which clinical staff have the time, resources, and support to provide the highest standards of care and to develop their careers. In addition to being supported to practise with a broad scope, clinical staff are encouraged and assisted to develop particular areas of clinical expertise. A market supplement to salary of £13,000 to £15,000 per year (reviewable annually) A gratuity (lump sum payment) on completion of the contract term equivalent to 25% of the total base salary value of the contract. A relocation allowance to help with moving costs. Free flights for the employee and dependants at the beginning and end of the contract plus additional annual return flights after the first year.
