Are you a passionate and dedicated Social Worker looking for a unique and rewarding role? We have an exciting opportunity for you to support children and young people arriving from all over the world through the National Transfer Scheme and spontaneous arrivals. As a Social Worker responsible for Slough Children First’s Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children, you will play a crucial role in developing and embedding support arrangements within Slough Children First (SCF), acting as the first point of contact for agencies regarding UASC children, fostering strong relationships with external partners. You will be responsible for assessing and transferring children from the Kent intake unit, as well as conducting initial age assessments of young people who arrive spontaneously via Police referrals or dispersal hotels. Working closely with immigration partners, the Children Looked After and the Leaving Care Teams, you will determine the need for full Merton age assessments and ensure appropriate support structures are in place for each child. You will undertake structured assessments and provide intensive support to children and young people, delivering appropriate interventions as part of a robust and outcome-focused support plan, ensuring regular reviews and ensuring children’s needs and wishes are fully addressed in the assessments and planning, with clear evidence of their participation. You will work collaboratively with internal and external partners to enhance learning and development around UASC and immigration issues, whilst promoting awareness and understanding of private fostering within communities across Slough. You will be an experienced Social Work practitioner with a strong understanding of UASC, age assessments, and contextual safeguarding. You will have excellent assessment and planning skills, a commitment to multi-agency working, and a passion for improving the lives of vulnerable children and young people. We work on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of 3 days per week based in the office. If you’re looking for a new challenge and want to be part of an exciting journey to turn children’s services around in Slough then come and join us. In return, we can offer you: Training and development opportunities Agile working supported by technology Flexible working policies Friendly working environment and great colleagues. Slough is one of the most diverse places in the country outside of London and a great place to live or work. In fact it's the best place to live or work according to a survey by Glassdoor. Pleasant environments, above average salaries and a lower cost of living, mean an increased quality of life for employees. We're also one of the most accessible places to be, nestled on the corner of the M25, M4 and M40, and less than 20 minutes by train to Central London.
