We are currently recruiting for a Scientist II to join the Vector & Cell Innovation Group. The purpose of this role is to support molecular biology projects relating to the improvement of lentiviral vectors and aid the transition of new technologies into commercial production.
OXB's Lentiviral and AAV vector platforms combine the latest and most advanced technologies in gene therapy. The Innovation Group maintain this by driving technological advances in vector design, engineering production cells and by developing scaled-down processes.
Your responsibilities in this role would be:
1. To provide laboratory project support for the RNA Vector Innovation team and, where necessary, wider Vector and Cell Innovation team
2. The design and execution of small-scale experiments using molecular biology and tissue culture procedures under the direction of the group leader or senior scientist
3. To ensure a high standard and record keeping and documentation of experiments to clearly capture information, and to communicate data effectively
4. Maintain cell stocks and reagent inventories
5. Accountable for own performance in alignment with group objectives and to ensure strict deadlines are met.
We are looking for:
1. Minimum BSc Degree with extensive laboratory experience, or recent MSc Degree in a relevant subject.
2. Experience with tissue culture and molecular biology, including q(RT)-PCR
3. Experience in virology, viral vectors would be an advantage.
4. Familiarity and interest in robotic handling and automated processes would be desirable.
5. An understanding of working to GxP standards is an advantage
6. The ability to manage multiple projects to support changing business priorities.
7. Capability to interpret results and draw conclusions under guidance from senior scientists.
8. Ability to communicate and problem solve effectively in a team environment
