We currently have an opportunity to join our team as an Engineering Surveyor Technician on the A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet Improvement project. The purpose of the National Highways scheme is to address the problems of congestion, poor journey time reliability and poor resilience against incidents between the Black Cat and Caxton Gibbet roundabouts.
The Engineering Surveyor Technician will assist the Engineering Surveyor in all Engineering Surveying activities, learning the role of Engineering Surveyor and the procedures undertaken by that role.
What you'll do:
* Assist in ensuring that the project has the appropriate survey control network to fulfill the construction requirements.
* Set out the works in accordance with the contract requirements before work is programmed to commence and under the instruction of the Engineering Surveyors.
* Assist in the delivery of a topographical survey in preparation for engineering works on site, reports and measures, and final survey information.
* Undertake operations related to Drone surveys in line with CAA regulations (if qualified).
* Support projects from initial start-up to delivery.
* The ability to undertake the engineering survey requirements on a project under the guidance of an Engineering Surveyor.
* Share information at an inter-team level.
* Support delivery of the Engineering surveying 2020 strategy.
* Check and adjust survey equipment duties.
* The ability to post-process surveys under the guidance of an Engineering Surveyor.
* Ensure that the project has the appropriate survey control network to undertake their operational tasks and report shortfalls through assistance of the Engineering Surveyors.
* Undertake the topographic survey deliverables required by the project, in accordance with OWOW.
* Efficiency and timely delivery of setting out and surveys under the guidance of an Engineering Surveyor.
What you'll bring to the role:
* Minimum 3 GCSEs (Mathematics, Science) or equivalent or if relevant, a specialist qualification in a technical area related to Drones (Clean and current UAV Pilots licence).
* NVQ level 3 or currently studying a vocational qualification or 2 years Land / Engineering surveying working history.
* Ability to use survey instruments, software, and working methods.
* PTS competence (Sector optional).
* Completion of the Skanska Graduate Passport - but not completed ICES technical membership.
