Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical Lead Therapist for Surgery to join our Inpatients Therapy Department to provide clinical leadership to the surgical therapy team. The post holder is responsible for the day-to-day operational managerial, clinical and professional delivery of the service. The post holder will lead in the development of the team in line with service objectives.
The surgery therapy team is an exciting dynamic team who treat inpatients on the elective surgical pathway at Royal London within differing specialities for example neurosurgery and orthopaedics. The team provides care to patients across a range of inpatient wards and feed into the Surgical Division, managed within the Therapies Department.
The Clinical Lead Therapist will lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team of therapists (Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists) to provide holistic, patient-centred care. They will conduct thorough assessments and develop tailored treatment plans for patients recovering from surgery. They are expected to collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care and optimal recovery outcomes. The post holder will provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior therapists and staff. They will also inspire the team to perform at its highest potential by setting, implementing and monitoring strategic goals for the service.

* Experience working in a surgical inpatient setting, understanding the specific needs of surgical patients (e.g., rehabilitation, post-operative care).
* Experience of managing senior and junior staff, students and assistants.
* Inpatient operational management experience.

Qualifications

* Diploma or Degree in Occupational therapy or Physiotherapy.
* HCPC registration.
* Evidence of relevant master's level qualification or equivalent specialist experience.
Desirable criteria
* Leadership training attendance or qualification acquired.
* Advanced certifications or post-graduate qualifications in specific therapeutic areas related to surgery, such as manual therapy, neurorehabilitation, or lymphedema management.
