NHS Lothian are seeking to recruit a Lead Midwife/Nurse position to provide senior midwifery/nursing leadership for Quality Improvement and Standards within our Maternity Services. This exciting new role provide a unique opportunity to support NHS Lothian achieve their ambition to become a Quality Management System.
The Lead Midwives/Nurses for Quality Improvement and Standards will provide clinical and professional nursing leadership for the delivery of Care Assurance and Value Management, within the Maternity Services, by ensuring that robust systems, policies, procedures, professional guidance, standards and training and education strategies are in place. In addition, they will provide expert clinical nursing advice focusing on strengthening links with Health Care Improvement Scotland with a particular focus on Excellence in Care.
The post holder will have experience of leading midwives/nurses, relevant clinical services, and Quality Improvement initiatives. The post holders will have a demonstrable proven track record of successfully leading clinical teams, managing change, and putting safety, quality and patient experience at the heart of everything you do.
Care Assurance in NHS Lothian is delivered using the Care Assurance and Accreditation Framework which is embedded in the Nursing Strategies. The provision of care assurance links with the national care assurance framework for Scotland, Excellence in Care, and provides a platform for the monitoring and assuring of nursing outcomes. Care is managed within the context of a complex and widespread multi-professional team.
The strategic direction of NHS Lothian Quality Strategy is in line with national and regional priorities. The Lead Midwife/Nurse Quality Improvement and Standards is a key senior midwifery/nursing role for the Care Assurance Programme. The post holder will report to the Head of Nursing for Quality Improvement and Standards and work collaboratively with their counterparts in the other sites/localities as well as in partnership with the site’s midwifery, nursing and managerial teams.
The successful candidates will have a strong background in nursing with evidence of Post Graduate study at Level 11 in midwifery/nursing, leadership or Quality Improvement and undertaken Quality Improvement training with application of quality improvement methodologies in practice.
