Senior Software Development Manager, Amazon Music

We are looking for a Senior Software Development Manager with a strong technical background and a passion for digital audio entertainment. We are revolutionizing how customers experience music, podcasts and audiobooks through personalized recommendations and novel listening features. We are innovating with Machine Learning technologies, including Large Language Models, to enhance content recommendations and create more engaging listening experiences. As a technical leader, you’ll have ownership of key product and technology components required to deliver state-of-the-art audio experiences across multiple surfaces including mobile apps, browser, voice-forward products, and in-car integrations. You'll work on fast-paced, challenging projects that directly impact how millions of customers engage with audio content.
Key job responsibilities
1. Lead a team of scientists and engineers developing innovative ways to experience and discover audio across Amazon Music’s vast catalog.
2. Build and scale services to serve tens of millions of customers.
3. Contribute to the vision, goals, and technical strategy in alignment with customer needs and market opportunities.
4. Mentor scientists and engineers, provide leadership on complex technical issues, design trade-offs, and feature and schedule prioritization.
5. Experiment with and launch new features that improve content engagement and measure their impact.
6. Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an agile environment.
7. Interface with other Amazon teams across geographies, working cross functionally with product, science and engineering collaborators.
8. Partner with senior leaders to develop strategic vision for Amazon Music's listening experience.

You will lead a team of applied scientists and engineers crafting delightful audio experiences. You'll leverage AI and machine learning to revolutionize how customers engage with audio content. Your day will involve leading large-scale, customer-facing services that directly impact the listening experience across multiple platforms. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers and applied scientists. With your expertise in cloud architectures and distributed systems, you'll ensure these solutions are scalable, reliable, and responsible, while continuously innovating to deliver personalized experiences that work seamlessly across devices and platforms.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
2. Experience applying machine learning to solve complex problems for large-scale applications.
3. Experience leading applied science and engineering teams in a software development organization.
4. Highly proficient in both spoken and written English (Common European Framework of Reference C1).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience delivering science solutions for customer-facing features.
2. Experience partnering with product and program management teams.
3. Experience with one of the following areas: machine learning technologies, Reinforcement Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing and related applications.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
5. Familiarity with AWS/cloud technologies.
6. Familiarity with Deep Learning and machine learning frameworks such as SageMaker, PyTorch or TensorFlow.
