What is the job role?
At Gosford Community Hub we offer day opportunities for adults with multiple and profound learning disabilities. We support many individuals who do not verbally communicate so our staff needs to pay attention to detail and think outside of the box to provide a high standard person-centred care.
We are looking for warm, fun, bubbly, caring staff who are confident to run and plan activities that are inclusive for all in their local community. We work to maximise the opportunities, choices, and independence for all service users we support with a non-judgemental approach. Our goal is to provide a high standard of care for everyone who accesses the service promoting dignity, respect, and independence at all times.
Work Pattern: We have a 30-hour and 22-hour post.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
You will be committed to:
1. Achieving meaningful and memorable days for our service users - this will include planning and running any activities.
2. Ensuring all support needs are met throughout the day.
3. Creating opportunity and choice with dignity and respect.
4. Providing a safe environment where service users rights and wishes are upheld and listened to
5. Promoting the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual wellbeing of the people we support, empowering them to fulfill a meaningful life.
You’ll need:
6. Patience and persistence to find ways to communicate effectively with service users
7. A willingness to work alone with service users as well as with colleagues.
8. Be physically able to carry out assessed manual handling, including hoisting, and pushing wheelchairs.
9. To meet the practical and personal care/support needs of the individuals we support. This can range from dietary/nutrition to medication needs.
