Role Purpose
Accountable for the management and development of accurate “Bills of Materials” maintained within the Enterprise Resource Planning System. Ensuring that valid and recognised Engineering Methods are deployed within the manufacturing process. Manage and implement Engineering Change to effectively and efficiently meet customer timeframes and agreed embodiment points. Implement Continuous Improvements ideas to improve productivity and product quality. Manage stakeholder involvement and communication throughout the transitional phases of such projects. Accountable for the Translation of Design Data and specifications into clear and concise work instructions to manufacture products that meet customer design standards and regulatory authority requirements. Support the PM and Engineering Team Leader in discharging the people issues such as the PDR, training/development and the related timekeeping responsibilities.

Responsibilities
14. Responsible for the translation of Design Engineering data and specifications into clear and concise work instructions for manufacturing assemblies or product to customer and regulatory authority requirements.
15. Accountable for the maintenance, development and compilation of detail packages of work and Conditions of Supply for external manufacture with suppliers.
16. Responsible for Continuous Improvement to achieve significant productivity and quality improvements by:Analysing and eliminating waste (seven wastes).Developing and implementing production smoothing methods and Kanban systems.Identifying and implementing methods to reduce set-up and overall cycle times.Effective use of problem-solving tools and techniques.Collaborate with Design to identify and implement cost reduction initiatives and product quality improvements.Responsible for optimising assembly methods to increase efficiency, reduce non- conformance and improve the overall quality of our products.
17. Responsible for the development and implementation of visible controls, measurement tools and business support systems.
18. Liaising with customers, design departments and regulatory authorities to ensure product integrity and compliance.
19. Responsible for checking and acceptance of new and modified design models and drawings as approved signatories.
20. Responsible for provision of Manufacturing Engineering support to external customers and contractors.
21. Responsible for the creation, maintenance and auditing of Manufacturing Engineering processes.
22. Assisting with product audits, identifying and implementing corrective actions and managing the close out of customer non-conformances.
23. Responsible for the day-to-day activities of sub-contract and full time Manufacturing Engineers including workload distribution.
24. Responsible for people issues in the absence of the Engineering Team Leader and related timekeeping responsibilities.
25. Responsible for the identification of training and development requirements of Manufacturing Engineering staff through the PDR process.
26. Responsible for the management and control of new technical packages introduced to the business both internal and external. This includes Financial Control, Vendor selection/approval, monitoring and the definition of controls and procedures to manage data produced.
27. Responsible for the compilation and presentation of Manufacturing Engineering input at design reviews, both internal and external and the subsequent Manufacturing Engineering actions identified.
28. Responsible for conducting Vendor assessment of the capabilities of potential suppliers.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
29. Qualified to HNC level or equivalent in a related engineering discipline
30. Have 5 years relevant engineering experience within a Manufacturing Engineering environment
31. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills – interface with customers and suppliers
32. Knowledge of engineering systems and the ability to deploy the Continuous Improvement Toolset – Seven Wastes etc
33. Awareness of drawings and systems as applied within our major customers such as Boeing and Airbus
34. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Packages – Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access
Decision Making Authority
35. Guidance is typically available from established policies or from related procedures. In addition guidance is also available from well defined procedures (what to do, not how to do it).
36. Reviews will typically only occur at the completion of defined projects (or project stages) and therefore will not occur with any degree of fixed regularity.
37. Decisions which affect their own job seldom requires approval. Decisions which impact on a work team or a department will require occasional approval by the Team Leader. Decisions which impact on other projects or functions will require regular approval from the Team Leader. In addition decisions which impact on the customer or suppliers will require occasional approval from the Team Leader.
38. The job holder is likely to responsible for direct reports, indirect reports and contract staff. Will generally be responsible for the leadership of others, for co-ordinating or supervising a team member or team; scheduling hours, checking results, taking actions to ensure quality standards are met and conducting performance assessments on others.
