Join our Adult Nutrition and Dietetic team at Edgware Community Hospital (ECH) and make a real difference in the lives of our patients.
We are seeking a Dietetic Assistant - Nutrition Support to assist our specialist dietitians in providing high-quality care to adults who require tube feeding or specialised nutritional advice, including oral nutritional supplements.
Ideal candidates will:
* Have experience working in a healthcare setting, such as a hospital or community clinic.
* Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Be a strong team player, able to work collaboratively with others.
* Have good organisational and time management skills.
* Be proficient in using computer systems and software.
* Have a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Previous experience in nutrition support, or background knowledge or training in a nutrition related subject would be advantageous. However, we are also open to candidates with transferable skills and a strong desire to learn.
Main duties of the job
* To provide administrative assistance and support to the Nutrition Support Dietetic Team.
* To effectively manage a caseload of patients in the community requiring weight checks, including booking patient appointments into either group sessions or travelling to patient homes.
* To work independently under the supervision of Specialist Dietitians to undertake clinical and administrative tasks to support the development and delivery of the Nutrition Support Dietetic Service.
* To be responsible for organising own delegated clinical workload and administrative tasks and activities and to be flexible to the needs of the service.
* To be responsible for inputting clinical activity data into the relevant IT system and generating reports as required on a regular basis.
* To work within an agreed framework for dealing with routine and urgent clinical problems/interactions, face to face or on the telephone, seeking guidance from the Dietitians to agree action outside the framework.
* To communicate in an effective and timely way with accurate message taking from clients, carers, Dietitians and other healthcare professionals with clear record keeping and dissemination of information to relevant staff.

Person Specification
Education/Qualification
* Basic literacy and numeracy, general education.
* Evidence of nutrition qualification, NVQ study to level 3 or equivalent qualification in Health and Social Care.
* Degree in Nutrition related subject.
Experience
* To have experience of working as part of a team.
* Previous experience working with the public.
* Experience in dealing with members of the public who may have communication difficulties.
* To have administrative experience.
* To work independently within defined parameters.
* To have experience of working in a healthcare setting.
* To have previous experience of working as a Nutrition Assistant.
* To have experience of working as a member of a Dietetic Team; experience in coordinating group education programmes.
Skills & Knowledge
* Has a good knowledge of the role of the Dietitian.
* Understands Health & Safety policy and is aware of the need to comply with other relevant Trust and departmental policies and procedures.
* Excellent IT skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
* Ability to arrange events and meetings for clients and staff.
* Understanding the need for confidentiality.
* Understanding and commitment to Equal Opportunities.
* Understanding awareness and experience of working with different ethnic communities within the borough.
* Awareness of anthropometric measurements and screening tools used in adults, i.e., MUST.

£31,081 to £33,665 a year per annum inclusive of HCAS.
