We have vacancies for children’s nurses who have completed their preceptorship to join us on Dolphin ward. Dolphin is our specialist cardiac ward with 16 beds, including a high dependency unit. We care for patients aged 0 to 18 years and are a specialist children’s cardiac centre providing care across the south west of England and Wales.

Bristol Royal Hospital for Children provides services for children from across the south west of England and is one of the UK’s five specialist Paediatric Major Trauma Centres. The hospital is located in the heart of the lively city of Bristol, a place brimming with art and culture, restaurants, and nightlife.

Person specification
Public Sector Language Competency
* Be able to speak fluent English to an appropriate standard
Qualifications & Training
* RSCN/ RN child branch (NMC registered) or equivalent
* Current NMC registration
* Work towards relevant university accredited post-basic study programmes e.g. teaching and assessing course
Knowledge & Experience
* Broad knowledge and experience of clinical nursing practice within a hospital environment
* Interest in the clinical area
* Experience of taking charge
* Experience of teaching
Skills & Abilities
* Demonstrate competence in clinical skills relevant to the clinical area
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Competence in calculations for safe administration of medicines/fluids
* Ability to take the lead and ensure appropriate action in response to the deteriorating patient
