Scale 17-22, £30,060 to £32,654 FTE per annum, pro rata
Equivalent to £15.58-£16.93 per hour

The Bath & Wells Diocesan Academies Trust is looking for an experienced Governance Officer to join our growing governance team. The Trust has strong local governance arrangements in place and each school has its own Trust Local Committee (TLC).

The role of Governance Officer has an important role to play in ensuring our Trust family
What we are looking for
Governance Officers play a key role in supporting the effective governance of a school, or a number of schools, within the Trust. They are a trusted and active Governance Professional and the role involves advising TLCs on the delivery of their core functions and ensuring that they operate in line with national guidance, the Trust’s Scheme of Delegation, Terms of Reference and Trust policies & procedures. The responsibilities also include organising meetings, collating papers, creating professional minutes, dealing with highly confidential and sensitive items with discretion, maintaining records, governor recruitment and induction and attendance at team meetings and Governance Professional briefings.
The majority of duties can be undertaken flexibility to meet deadlines from home with planned meeting dates set each summer for the year ahead that are usually held at school. The majority of governor meetings and training events are held in the afternoon and evenings and travel to schools for meetings will be required, although we do offer a hybrid approach to TLC meetings where appropriate. Support and training will be provided both online and in person.

Salary, hours and pay scale
Salary from £15.58 to £16.93 per hour
Governance Officers are paid for 114 hours per year for each TLC with an additional 39 hours per year for team meetings and development.
For example, a Governance Officer supporting 2 schools would be paid for:
2x114 hrs per school = 228 plus 39 hrs for development time = 267 hrs per annum.
