Orchard House Surgery is excited to offer a unique opportunity for a Band 7 paramedic/emergency care practitioner (ECP) to join our team on a full or part-time basis, the hours can be negotiable. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in reshaping primary care across our community. You will work closely with our dynamic team of healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality emergency care and support to our patients. This role ensures the highest standards of care for registered and temporary patients, focusing on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, or referral of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions. You will work within the scope of a paramedic/emergency care practitioner's competence, responding to referrals and requests from various sources. Your primary responsibilities will include: Provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, serving as the first point of contact for patients either at the practice or in their homes. Ensure safe and effective clinical practice within your competence boundaries while acknowledging limitations. Support the development of an on-the-day emergency patient service within the Practice. Perform visits, ward rounds, triage, and assessments for nursing/care home patients and housebound patients. Triage and prioritise patients accurately, even in emergency situations, using various techniques to elicit medical history. Evaluate clinical information, initiate appropriate treatment or referrals, and interpret diagnostics. Refer patients to appropriate care settings within locally agreed healthcare pathways. Maintain accurate and systematic documentation of patient interactions and clinical care, including adverse events. Provide clinical advice to other team members as needed. You will have the following skills and experience: Registered paramedic : Hold valid registration with the appropriate regulatory body (HCPC). Paramedic/emergency care practitioner qualification: Ideally, hold qualifications and training relevant to the role. Clinical experience: A minimum of 6 years of experience in a paramedic or similar clinical role. Primary care knowledge : Familiarity with primary care principles and the ability to integrate emergency and primary care services. Communication skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with patients and collaborate effectively with the healthcare team. Community focus: A passion for supporting the local community and promoting health and well-being. Commitment to development : Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training. About Us We are a 6-partner PMS practice with approx. 12,000 patients. We also employ 3 further salaried doctors, a nurse manager, a further 5 practice nurses, an associate practitioner, HCA and 2 phlebotomists. We also have access to PCN staff; pharmacists, emergency care practitioners, physician associates and physiotherapists. The practice is one of three based in Newmarket that provides a high level of care to our patients in Newmarket and surrounding villages.
