The post holder will supervise a team of staff in providing a quality and efficient comprehensive portering, domestic cleaning and site services at our NHS Trust in line with the National Cleaning Standards, department Standing Operational Procedures and Trust Policies.
To ensure a high standard of Patient Environmental Site services are delivered across a range of facilities services.
To provide excellent customer service to our patients, colleagues and members of the public at all times.
Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with a range of hospital staff, the public, patients and colleagues across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
1. Providing supervision, support, training and development to Patient Environment Service Assistants and Domestic Assistants.
2. Carry out administration duties in line with the job role, departmental procedures and Trust policies. Carry out own team appraisals and return to work sickness meetings and review meetings as required.
3. Prioritise work load and location of staff in order to provide a quality and efficient service.
4. Arrangement of duty rotas to suit the needs of the service, planning and allocating holiday requests. Covering sickness and working within financial constraints of the department set by management following approval and under the guidance of line management.
5. Ensuring correct usage of approved cleaning materials to the manufacturer's specification and COSHH data sheets.
6. To review, audit and ensure that work is carried out by the service staff in accordance with work schedules, in line with the national cleanliness standard and Trust operational policies.
About us
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Education and qualifications
* Relevant related NVQ 2 or equivalent experience or (British Institute Cleaning Science) BICS qualification in cleaning sciences.
* Certificate in COSHH.
* Award in Risk Assessment.
* Gas safety awareness certificate.
* Certificate in Health and Safety.
Experience
* Demonstrate a period of leading a team within a busy Environment. Team Working.
* Relevant Supervisory Experience.
* Experience working with computers IT based systems.
* Knowledge of Cleaning in a large setting or health care establishment.
* Knowledge of medical gas handling.
* Knowledge of customer care.
* Knowledge of acute hospital environment.
