This job attracts a Recruitment and Retention payment of £25,000 in addition to £8000 relocation allowance plus other benefits. The R&R payment is pro rata for part time employees.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Home Treatment Team. The HTT provides intensive community care underpinned by the principles of acute & dynamic, clinically focused risk management. The multidisciplinary team develops individual care plans for each patient to work towards step down to less intensive clinical support & provide early intervention to avoid admission.
The postholder will be responsible for providing clinical input and leadership to our community service based at Farnham Road Hospital in Guildford & our Theta service in Frimley and works alongside a multidisciplinary team in accordance with New Ways of Working.
The HTT interfaces with Inpatient Acute Services, Single Point of Access Triage Services, Community Services, Liaison Services & the Criminal Justice System. Most patients are referred from CMHRS & Liaison Services.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for providing clinical input and leadership to the Southwest Home Treatment Team, which covers the Guildford and Waverley Localities and into the North East Hants Home Treatment Team that covers Hart, Rushmoor and Surrey Heath.
You will work with consultant colleagues and local managers to develop safe, clinical and cost-effective services in Surrey. The post holder will be expected to work constructively with Surrey and Borders Trust managers (including the Associate Medical Director) and with local commissioners to deliver and develop a strategy to ensure that the Trust remains the provider of choice for liaison services.

The post requires candidates to have Full GMC Registration with License to Practice in the UK, MRCPsych (or equivalent), Section 12 Approval and AC status.
You will be expected to travel between the two clinical sites Farnham Road Hospital, Guildford & Theta, Lyon Way, Frimley.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent recognised medical qualification
* Full medical registration with a license to practice.
* Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (or within 6 to 12 months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalent
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
* Relevant higher degree, e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications
* MRCPsych or equivalent
* Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills.
* In good standing with GMC concerning warnings and conditions on practice
* Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within three months of appointment
Clinical Skill Knowledge & Experience
* Knowledge of legislation, Department of Health Guidance and literature and its implications for clinical practice.
* Knowledge of NHS strategic vision in the Next Stage Review (High-Quality Care for All)
* Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
* Make decisions based on evidence and experience, including the contribution of others
* Ability to meet duties under MHA and MCA
* Experience working with various patient groups presenting with the full range of clinical severity across different care settings, including community, inpatient, and specialist teams.
* Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.
