Job title: Floor Fitters Mate Department: Ready Homes Reporting to: Repairs and Maintenance Team Leader Location: Cardiff Contract Type: Permanent Hours of Work: 40 hours p/w (Mon - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm) Salary: £26,189.00 per annum Reporting to the Repairs & Maintenance Team Leader the jobholder will be responsible for undertaking cleaning of existing flooring, removal of furniture, doors and preparing the work area. You will receive guidance and training from the Floor Fitter around preparing the surface by cleaning, levelling and fixing flooring materials using several methods. Carry out tasks in occupied and empty properties such as the following: Flooring Cleaning of existing flooring Clearing the work area of furniture and sometimes removing doors Preparing the surface by cleaning, and (after guidance & training) levelling with compound if required Cutting and fitting underlay After direct guidance and training from the flooring fitter - fixing flooring materials by one of several methods such as stretching over spiked grippers, stitching, taping, heat-sealing, or gluing. Once fitted moving furniture back into place and re-hanging doors. After direct guidance training from the flooring fitter - Fitting of other materials such as wood, laminates, and vinyl. Removal of old flooring to a suitable place Returning furniture to original positions Painting & Decorating: Carry out a range of painting and redecoration tasks including p repare and clean surfaces using methods such as scraping, sanding and steam cleaning; remove old wallpaper and loose paint; repair cracks and holes in walls and joinery by applying fillers/ sealant. Prepare/sand surface for application of decorative product. C arry out a range of groundwork repairs.
