Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Medical Oncology (Melanoma). This is a 4 PA substantive post.
The post holder will join a team of three other Medical Oncologists leading the Melanoma Oncology Service at CUH. Research is integral to the service, so the post holder will be expected to be GCP-trained and engage in clinical research responsibilities. The post includes 4 service PAs per week. The duties include attending two dedicated Melanoma Oncology clinics each week, chairing the Metastatic Melanoma MDT meeting (1 in 4 weeks) and providing Melanoma inpatient support as required. The post holder will be expected to engage in teaching and supporting trainees and medical students on rotation. Involvement in the ward in-patient rota and attendance at a small number of monthly departmental governance meetings are expected, on a pro-rata basis., You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in medical oncology, or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview.

Leadership is a key requirement of doctors' professional work and this innovative programme is designed to support Consultants to hone the leadership and management skills they need to succeed at CUH.
The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
