An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cost Lead to join our Procurement and Commercial team to support our SSEN Transmission business.
SSEN Transmission is at the heart of the just transition to net zero in the UK. In the coming years, our network will be pivotal in connecting and transporting the power needed to decarbonise the UKs electricity network and in doing so power the UKs net-zero and energy security ambitions. Our business is rapidly growing, to deliver the largest investment package that Scotlands electricity system has ever seen, with a projected investment programme of over £20bn+ in the next 10 years. This role will support the delivery of this ambitious investment programme.
The role will be responsible for leading the Cost Control activities for a Directorate within SSE Transmission. To successfully operate within a regulated business environment, we require to monitor, control and report on all Cost matters required on all Projects across the portfolio.
You will
- Lead the coordination of all Cost Control activities within the Directorate, particularly month end reporting, portfolio reporting and integration with Contract Management. Ensuring accuracy and timely reporting will be vital to the role.
- Line management responsibility of Cost Control resources.
- Prepare and present Portfolio Cost Reports / Budgets at various Leadership Forums - using these reports to drive actionable insights.
- Adhere to and advance Policies and Procedures. Targeting continuous improvements through identifying and developing innovative methods for improving Cost Control processes.
- Manage all interfaces with Stakeholders across the business including Finance, Project Management, Regulation, Delivery Teams, Project Services, etc.
Demonstratable experience and advanced competency in cost control and reporting within a leading role.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with an ability to liaise with all levels of the business.
- Demonstrate experience and advanced competency in digital tools such as Power BI, Excel and Oracle/Other ERP.
- Knowledge and experience of commercial aspects of contracts (including Contract Management).

Salary: £63,000 - £94,400 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.
