PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To support investigating officers in the completion of administrative functions that relate to both criminal investigation and judicial process.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1 To prepare and write witness/victim statements in the approved evidential format.
2 To provide clerical support to investigating officers, including the updating of internal records, NICHE-Crime Recording System, Cycomms applications and making LANDesk and forensic submissions.
3 To undertake tasks and activities in support of criminal investigations. This includes reviewing material for secondary investigation that may be of a sensitive or confidential nature as well as conducting CCTV and witness enquiries.
4 When appropriate to seize, handle and ensure continuity of exhibits. Recording of information, storage and preparation of exhibit lists and disposal of property (Designated Power Police Reform Act 2002).
5 Liaise with other police forces, outside agencies, and partners in the furtherance of investigating requirements.
6 To support the Lead Interviewer in suspect & victim interviews as Second Interviewer. (This will not necessitate Designated Powers).
7 Assist in the preparation of files to the required standard as agreed by Northamptonshire Police and Crown Prosecution Policies.
8 As directed, to undertake all other reasonable allocated tasks and activities in support of criminal investigations at the direction of an OIC/Supervisor.
