We are looking for a Band 6 Speech & Language therapist who is passionate about community-based care for adults with swallowing and communication disorders. The successful applicant will join the wonderfully supportive Sheffield Adult Community Team (ACT).
This role is part time, 22.5 hours (0.6 WTE / 3 days per week). There is the possibility of more hours if required. If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to contact us or raise this in the interview.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide clinical speech and language therapy services to a defined specialised caseload as part of the Adult Community SLT team.
2. To specialise in the assessment and management of communication disorders and dysphagia.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Qualified to work to Specialist level on RCSLT Dysphagia competency framework
* Registered member of Health & Care Professionals Council & Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Dysphagia experience / accreditation, including management of complex cases in the community.
Experience
* Relevant experience up to or at a Band 6 Level
* Experience of working with adults with communication and swallowing difficulties resulting from a wide range of acquired neurological conditions.
* Experience in working with adults in hospital and community settings
* Experience of working with relatives and carers
* Evidence of multi-disciplinary team working
* Involvement in development and delivery of training packages
Further Training
* Knowledge of assessment tools and therapeutic interventions for relevant client groups
* Knowledge of national policies and legislation relevant to client group, and the local implementation of these.
* Knowledge of professional and clinical guidelines relevant to the client group.
* Knowledge of supported communication techniques, use of talking mats, life story books / communication passports
* Competent in use of IT for everyday communication.
* Good time management and organisational skills.
* Good presentation skills - oral and written.
* Awareness of the principles of clinical governance, audit and required standards of record keeping.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in relation to liaison and joint working.
* Evidence of ability to manage specialist and complex caseload independently
* Knowledge of the NHS and understanding of the roles of other professions

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 a year pro rata for part time staff.
