Make your mark in Capital Modelling
Economic capital is of growing importance at AIG as part of use in capital and risk management, budgeting, strategy and pricing. It provides guidance on the trade-off between risk and return and informs risk-aware business decisions that support corporate objectives.
How you will create an impact
This role is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking business with a focus on capital model calibration of Insurance Risk and the deployment of calibration assessments to support team operations and stakeholder business uses. The key risk areas of involvement are Non-Cat Reserve Risk, Premium Risk and Man-Made Cat Risk quantification, as inputs into AIG's Group and Legal Entity capital models. We seek to embed a greater understanding of the quantification of volatility and risk with our business partners and this role will facilitate that outcome.
This role involves communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders, including Actuarial, Underwriting, ERM, and Finance.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
* Quantification of Reserve and Premium Risks for a Property Casualty insurance company. This includes both detailed knowledge of mathematical methodologies for quantifying these risks and the measurement of these risks in practice.
* Man Made Cat modelling - review of scenario models from underwriting teams and third-party vendor models.
* Further develop and maintain in-house models used to measure these risks.
* Review methodologies and establish common standards for modelling across AIG's various capital models, including the Group model and Legal Entity models used for Solvency II in UK and Europe.
* Communicate analysis framework and results to internal and external audiences.
* Develop and maintain documentation and testing relating to methods and analyses produced.
* Answer ad-hoc requests from the business regarding risk and capital analysis.
* Coach and manage junior staff, including regular review of their work.
What you'll need to succeed:
* Qualified Actuary or MSc in a quantitative field or equivalent preferred.
* 5+ years of experience in general insurance.
* Capital modelling experience strongly preferred.
* Knowledge of different lines of business and their characteristics and key risks.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
* Experience of using statistical programming languages, such as R, Python or Matlab.
* Experience using and coding in WTW Igloo for capital modelling is a plus.
