The Finance Team within the Planning, Transport & Environment Directorate is essential to the development and delivery of multimillion pound Capital programmes across the city. Working in a complex and often financially challenging arena, we are looking for a Capital Projects Finance and Risk Business Partner to support multiple project teams.
About the job
As the Projects & Finance Business Partner, you will need to manage and keep up to date with a range of projects at different stages. You will need to build strong connections within project teams ensuring your advice and guidance is heard and understood. The role will include:
1. Preparing financial business cases for a range of capital projects
2. Balancing competing deadlines and providing a capital programme financial overview
3. Overseeing and monitoring financial performance and risk
4. Undertaking financial lifecycle assessment
5. Embedding within project teams to both support and challenge project development and management
The role is very varied and fast moving; you will liaise with many different project teams across the directorate and need to build positive relationships with current and future funders.
What We Are Looking For From You
You will have a background in project finance, with the following key skills:
1. Extensive experience in working with external funding partners and consultancy teams to deliver large scale capital projects.
2. Experience of working with Welsh Government or similar in preparing and managing grant funding.
3. Proven track record in monitoring & managing risk.
4. SAP proficient (or similar financial management system).
5. Experience of producing detailed and complex financial planning & monitoring reports.
6. Able to work to strict deadlines and manage conflicting priorities.
7. Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to organise self and others to prioritise work and achieve targets.
