Job summary We are looking to recruit a highly motivated nurse, who is passionate about the care of patients to join Raedwald Day Surgery Unit based at Ipswich Hospital. This role will be based mainly in the recovery area of which in-house training and support will be given. There will also be opportunity to work on the ward as well as theatres and would encourage those with these skills to also apply. This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly team who are motivated in promoting the delivery of patient-centred, clinically effective and dynamic service to our patients. Raedwald day surgery is a purpose built unit consisting of 4 operating theatres, covering different specialities from urology, ENT, orthopaedic, oral, paediatric, ophthalmology, breast, vascular, pain and plastics. There are 24 adult cubicles, 7 children's cubicles and a post anaesthetic recovery area. The team are dedicated to facilitate same day discharge of elective surgery patients. The unit is open Monday -Saturday 7.15am until 8pm. There are no night shifts and Saturday working is a 1 in 4 ratio. We are closed on Sundays and bank holidays. If successful, you will gain knowledge and experience in both adult and paediatric elective day surgery. You will be supported to complete both ILS, PILS and other training that benefits to role; including leadership. The day surgery unit are happy to accommodate informal discussions and visits if you would like more information before applying. Main duties of the job To provide clinically effective, high quality, individualized peri-operative patient care working within the multi-disciplinary team. With an interest in Recovery nursing. To deliver patient care throughput the peri-operative pathway to include patient escort, anaesthetic care, scrubbing for surgical procedures, post anaesthetic recovery, ward and nurse led discharge. To promote a safe and attractive working environment that is conducive to learning. To contribute to the continuing development of peri-operative and professional practice ensuring practice is evidence based. To support the integration of clinical governance in all aspects of patient care delivery. To demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to achieve the learning outcomes of departmental programmes, trust, and unit competencies.
