JOB SUMMARY
As a Technical Support Officer at a CRO, your work will primarily involve supporting the execution of client projects to ensure efficient, robust and high-quality service to our clients. You will work with many of the top and up-and-coming pharmaceutical companies. The minimum project pipeline you will contribute to entails FFPE processing, sectioning and staining (H&E and/or IHC) at no less than 300 blocks of tissue per week as part of the delivery of the Skimune assay. Requirements will be detailed from a signed project scope with a mixture of fixed and fluid deliverables. You will additionally co-plan and execute sourcing and ordering of required items and assist in work execution according to protocols and SOPs where suitable. At every step, you will work collaboratively with highly driven, goal- and process-oriented colleagues as part of the scientific team.
Minimum Maintenance Tasks:
1. Ensure that all laboratory drawers are stocked.
2. Clean equipment on a regular schedule.
3. Manage deliveries and maintenance jobs.
4. Complete other checklist items.
Technical Skills Required:
1. General understanding of FFPE and histological processing.
2. Human tissue culture experience.
3. Adaptability to different computer technologies.
Soft Skills Required:
1. Compliance with quality control systems (e.g. ISO9001).
2. Strong attention to detail.
3. Strong initiative in assigned and peripheral tasks.
4. Ability to maintain high productivity and accuracy.
Key Role & Responsibilities
1. Histopathology with tissue sectioning and staining responsibilities.
2. Ensure all processes align with current company quality and safety guidelines.
3. Support the Scientific Manager to ensure laboratory safety regulations are met.
4. Maintain cleanliness and safety of laboratories and equipment.
5. Manage ordering system effectively.
6. Perform all work to ISO9001 standards.
7. Participate in internal audits to maintain ISO9001 standards.
8. Optimize and develop cell culture methods in collaboration with the Scientific Manager & other scientific staff.
9. Prepare skin tissue and blood samples from surgical sources for setting up Skimune assays.
10. Supervise cell culture including training and induction.
11. Manage frozen cell stocks and cell bank archives.
12. Carry out other duties as required by the line manager.
13. Deliver client studies with attention to detail and high standards.
14. Maintain documents and records accurately.
15. Report breakages and health & safety issues to the Scientific Manager.
16. Support safe disposal of chemical, biological and radioactive waste.
17. Control stock and conduct annual stock checks.
18. Ensure statutory records of poisons, inflammable liquids, alcohol and radioactive materials are maintained.
19. Perform statutory checks on electrical equipment.
20. Show flexibility in working hours and be willing to work out of hours when required.
21. Apply continuous improvement throughout.
