As an Exploration Geologist, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating geological activities, including the analysis of geological data and conducting geological studies. You will work as a key member of the subsurface team, contributing to prospect identification, volumetric estimation, risk assessment, and geological modelling. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical expertise while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to influence key exploration strategies.
* Interpret Geological Data: Analyze geological data from regional surveys to individual well data, providing critical insights for exploration projects.
* Estimate Resources: Use deterministic and probabilistic methods to provide STOIIP/GIIP estimates, contributing to accurate resource assessments.
* Maintain Resource Inventory: Ensure that the prospective resources inventory is up to date and properly managed.
* Risk and Uncertainty Management: Identify geological risks and uncertainties, ensuring effective communication with key stakeholders.
* Provide Technical Input: Contribute to drilling programmes, resource maturation plans, and new business evaluations.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Represent The Prax Group at Technical Committee meetings and liaise with external parties, including the North Sea Transition Authority.
* Budget Management: Work within approved subsurface budgets and manage contractors for specialist studies.
* Mentorship: Supervise and mentor less experienced technical staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications: A degree and post-graduate qualification in Geoscience or a related discipline.
* Experience: Demonstrable experience working with exploration assets, including contributing to well programmes and geological evaluations.
* Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of deepwater turbidite plays, structural and stratigraphic trap settings, and geophysical techniques.
* Skills:
o Sedimentological and biostratigraphic studies
o Paleogeographic map construction and structural restoration
o Basin modelling and pressure prediction
o Geological risk assessment of prospects and leads
o Proficient in using Petrel or equivalent tools for geological modeling and volumetric calculations
o Experience performing analytical estimates (deterministic and probabilistic) of in-place volumetric calculations
* Knowledge: Familiarity with UKCS operations and regulatory frameworks, including an understanding of relevant industry standards.
* Strong Analytical and Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex geological data clearly and effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
* Motivation and Drive: A proactive, self-motivated individual with the ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and deliver high-quality results.
