Senior Finance Officer – Local Authority
We are seeking a Senior Finance Officer to join a dynamic Corporate Accountancy team within a local authority. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with an expectation to attend the office a few times per month.
Key Responsibilities:
* Complete monthly CIS returns and VAT claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
* Liaise with HMRC and address VAT-related queries.
* Monitor and report on financial controls.
* Support the completion of the annual Statement of Accounts and related processes.
* Assist with finance systems maintenance and statutory returns.
* Perform balance sheet reconciliations and liaise with internal and external auditors.
About You:
* Experience in finance teams within local authorities, public sector, or non-profit organisations.
* Strong understanding of financial accounting principles.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
* Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
* Corporate Accountancy experience in local government is highly desirable
