An exciting opportunity has arisen for part time or full time position, working with an experienced and committed team in a community Rheumatology setting.
Provide specialist care as part of a multi-disciplinary service, to patients with rheumatology conditions.
To work in the Rheumatology Infusion Suite administering subcutaneous and intramuscular injections.
To cannulate patients and administer infusions including biosimilar medications, iron, bisphosphonate infusions and any other medications required to treat this cohort of patients. Works collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and maintain a standard of care in relation to this specialist patient group.
To assist in audit as required by the Department.
To identify objectives for personal development through Trust's individual performance review programme. To provide contemporaneous records and reports regarding patients' ongoing care and management including written reports to GP's of treatment changes.
To assist the Senior Nurses in implementing their role. To assist the Senior Nurses in providing a training program for student nurses.
Main duties of the job
To report to the Senior Nurses in the infusion suite. To assist the Senior Nurses and Clinical Team Lead in delivery expert care for our patients and in developing protocols and procedures in line with NICE and BSR Guidelines.
To act as a role model to student nurses and health care assistants.
Undertake appropriate clinical risk assessments to inform the Trust of any circumstances that contribute to an unsafe environment for patients and staff.
Contributes to the development and delivery of treatment programmes tailored to the needs of patients with established rheumatology conditions, underpinned by best practice and using a patient centred approach.
Together with the Senior Nurses work with secondary care services with regards to information provision to ensure a whole system approach to rheumatology management.
Participates in the development of and maintenance of mechanisms to audit the quality of care and effectiveness of treatment.

* Ability to demonstrate verbal and written communication skills.

* Ability to demonstrate knowledge of NMC guidelines.
* Ability to demonstrate knowledge of Multi disciplinary Team working
Desirable
* Ability to practice phlebotomy and cannulation
* A willingness to learn and a passion for Rheumatology.
