Job Description
Are you a highly organised architect who has enjoyed the creativity of hands-on design but knows you have more to offer?
If the thought of managing and coordinating complex, design-led projects excites you, and you’re ready to take the next step, this opportunity is designed for you.
Perhaps you’ve already explored aspects of project management within your role as an architect and are now ready to transition fully into a Design Management role. If so, this is the perfect time to make that move.
Our client is a globally renowned leader in delivering award-winning architectural projects of scale and significance, working on a broad range of medium to large-scale schemes that make an impact on the global stage.
Recent strategic announcements have highlighted the importance of large or complex infrastructure and aviation projects. While experience in these areas is desirable, it’s not essential. If you have a knack for design management and leadership, you’re encouraged to apply.
To note, if you’re someone who thrives on ensuring that high-quality design is delivered through expert project management and coordination, this role will be a rewarding fit. However, if you prefer to be at the forefront of hands-on design, this role may not align with your aspirations.
What the Role Entails:
* Steer the Design Process: Define and execute design strategies that align with client objectives, ensuring that every project maintains its unique architectural integrity.
* Lead Multidisciplinary Teams: Oversee teams ranging from 3 to 20+ members (depending on experience), leading and coordinating the firm's design talent to deliver superior design outcomes on time.
* Safeguard Quality: Act as the custodian of design excellence, ensuring that all project deliverables not only meet but exceed client expectations.
* Be the Client Liaison: Develop strong relationships with elite clientele and industry leaders, offering expert guidance throughout every stage of the project lifecycle.
A Day in the Life:
* Strategic Leadership: Leverage your expertise to empower and guide talented design teams in delivering exceptional outcomes, focusing on effective management and coordination rather than direct hands-on creative design.
* Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with world-renowned architects and design experts to help them deliver innovative solutions on time.
* Project Oversight: Manage project set up, design documentation, project resourcing, consultant appointments and overall team coordination to ensure seamless project execution.
* Global Exposure: Engage in projects across the globe, with opportunities for international travel to support globally significant projects.
What’s In It for You:
* Prestigious Projects: Expand your portfolio by working on landmark, high-profile projects that make an impact on the global stage.
* Professional Growth: Benefit from continuous professional development, training, and mentorship designed to hone both your design management and leadership skills.
* Industry Connections: Forge meaningful relationships with business leaders and specialists who are invested in your success.
* Dynamic Work Environment: Enjoy a collaborative and supportive atmosphere where your dual passion for design and management is recognised and nurtured.
What You Need to Succeed:
* Experience: 1 to 8+ years post-Part 3 experience in architecture, with a demonstrated ability to manage key aspects of project oversight.
* Credentials: Registered Architect (ARB/RIBA) + PMP qualifications. Overseas qualifications will be considered for candidates with 3-5 years of UK-based experience.
* Leadership & Management Skills: Proven expertise in helping to create or lead design programs, project management documentation, and the overall coordination of notable design projects.
* Desirable Exposure: Experience in large or complex infrastructure or aviation projects is highly desirable in light of current industry trends, but it’s not essential.
If you're an architect passionate about ensuring exceptional design outcomes through strategic oversight and team empowerment, without being directly involved in day-to-day creative decisions on globally significant projects, this is your moment.
Perks & Benefits:
* Annual Bonuses + Salary Reviews: Earn performance-based bonuses that recognise your hard work and contributions throughout the year along with annual salary appraisals.
* Annual Trips: Experience unforgettable annual trips designed to celebrate achievements and foster team unity.
* Continuous Professional Development: Benefit from weekly CPD sessions and dedicated mentoring opportunities that will supercharge your transition into Design Management and accelerate your career growth.
