We are looking for a Retail Manager to join our team. The role is full time and permanent. You'll be on a permanent, full time basis, working 36 hours per week during the height of season, from 8:30am to 6:30pm. Hours will differ in the winter, more details will be available at your interview. The Retail Manager will be a positive role model driving our retail performance, exceeding targets and ensuring the team provide exceptional customer service to all visitors and generate the revenue needed to support this exceptional site.

This is a great opportunity for to work at one of English Heritage's flagship sites, Tintagel Castle, welcoming around 300,000 visitors per year. Tintagel Castle offers a magical and unforgettable experience to its visitors. The rocky headland of Tintagel is the setting for over 1500 years of history and archaeology, where the stories of human occupation are intertwined with world-famous legends and myth. The site includes the clifftop remains of a medieval castle, breath-taking sea views as well as the famous statue of Gallos and newly built bridge. You will also find a secluded beach perfect for exploring, as well as a shop and cafe where a wide range of treats can be purchased.
This role provides a unique opportunity to work in a busy tourist attraction, as Retail Manager, alongside a team of dedicated individuals. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering an exemplary service to every visitor through leading a team to deliver an exceptional visitor experience, as well as drive a high standard of visual merchandising. You will work to drive performance across retail, monitor and achieve agreed retail targets as well as, manage relevant retail expenditure budgets and monitor stock and sales through Electronic Point of Sale (EPoS). You will also oversee the planning and management of all retail activity on site, in all permanent and pop-up locations, and support retail management in your territory.
As Retail Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of the retail operation at
Tintagel Castle; from leading,enthusing and motivating the team on the ground, ordering and delivery processes, sales analysis, merchandising and everything inbetween! You will be joining the management team at Tintagel Castle and will be supported by the territory Retail Support Manager in the West. Our expectations are high and you will be an intrinsic part of the team increasing our financial contribution to the charity by generating income through retail activities on site, including the creation, development and implementation of new ideas and opportunities in line with the retail strategy.
Stories and people are our passion and you will lead, coach and motivate our site retail team to deliver the unique story of Tintagel Castle through the items we sell, ensuring the highest levels of customer service, presentation and visual merchandising.
To be considered as Retail Manager, you'll need:
To maintain a positive and professional manner, as well as excellent customer relations.
An excellent communicator with the confidence and ability to represent the charity.
Experience of managing a retail outlet, preferably within a visitor attraction and/or charity environment.
Be able to generate profit by meeting targets and controlling costs.
Be familiar with principles of visual merchandise, inventory management and retail operations.
Interviews will be held in the week commencing 24/02/25 at Tintagel Castle.

Tintagel Castle is a rugged coastal site which can be challenging to visitors and staff; the paths are uneven and bumpy in places, so you will need to wear sturdy shoes, wet weather gear, and sun hats - all of this will be provided as part of your uniform. Free parking is available to staff within the village, not on site.
