Job overview
The Medicines Value and Access data and analysis team is embedded within the Medicines Value and Access (MVA) sub-directorate of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) directorate. MVA has the responsibility to ensure the NHS as a whole delivers value for money for its expenditure on medicines (£17.2bn for FY 2021/22) and carries out a range of activities relating to branded medicines and generic, biosimilar and blood products in both primary and secondary care.
The purpose of the Data Manager post is to support the effective operations of managed access approaches through the CDF and IMF across England, supporting a dynamic regional and national matrixed group. The role is designed to build on a combination of subject matter expertise and technical skills to develop strong service delivery.
The MVA team within advanced analytics is a multi-disciplinary analytical team providing support to the following areas:
* Medicines Procurement and Efficiencies (MPE) including strategic category management.
* Medicines operations including the Cancer Drugs Fund (CDF) and Innovative Medicines Fund (IMF), the Early Access to Medicines Scheme (EAMS), the high-cost drugs prior approval system (currently Blueteq) and confidential pricing sharing platform (CAP Portal)
* Medicines Negotiation and Managed Access
* Medicines Policy and Strategy
* Hospital Pharmacy Modernisation
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible to medicines operations colleagues (business function leads), and report to their line manager, within Data and Analysis embedded team.
Specific duties include:
* Leading and managing the transactional activity required to support managed access including the interface and relationships with suppliers.
* Leading the oversight of managed access price validation processes.
* Developing and implementing systems to ensure information is effectively managed and best practice is shared across the function, MVA and the wider NHS organisations as appropriate.
* Delivering audience specific reports, for example for clinical or finance colleagues.
* Ensuring interoperability between the data sources.
