We are a national car transportation company with over 750 employees, based near Carlisle, with a large fleet of car transporters delivering mainly new vehicles throughout the UK for a variety of motor manufacturers. ECM is part of the Constellation Automotive Group of Companies alongside brands such as Cinch, We Buy Any Car, BCA, and Marshall Motor Group.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and friendly HR professional to join our small HR team, to manage Human Resource/Personnel activities across all areas of our business, which includes vehicle workshops, offices, and truck operations. The role is based mainly at our Carlisle Head Office site but will require travel to other areas of the UK as needed.
Key Role Requirements and Responsibilities
1. Monitor and maintain a working knowledge of employment legislation, ensuring compliance with best practices and ACAS guidelines.
2. Effectively manage the recruitment process including creating and placing advertisements, organising, and conducting interviews, arranging start dates.
3. Create contracts of employment and other associated documentation.
4. Organise, attend and participate in meetings with Union representatives.
5. Create, monitor and maintain relevant Company policies and procedures.
6. Manage and deal with long term sickness issues.
7. Organise and carry out disciplinary and grievance meetings as required.
8. Resolve issues/disputes using the most appropriate and effective means.
9. Manage Company uniform supplies, including ordering, issuing to staff and maintenance of stock records.
10. Liaise with Directors and department managers on relevant HR issues.
Required skills, qualifications and experience
1. CIPD Level 5 Diploma or equivalent.
2. Experience of working in a Personnel role at a management level.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
4. A proactive and solution-orientated approach to problem solving.
5. The ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
6. Experience of dealing with Trade Unions.
7. Good organisational skills, the ability to multi-task, manage your own workload and identify priorities.
8. A high level of attention to detail.
9. A good general knowledge of relevant employment legislation and practices.
10. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
11. A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel when required.
