We provide a unique combination of personalised care, support and housing solutions for Young people 16 and 18 Care Leavers. We are looking for motivated, passionate, reliable and friendly individuals to join our growing team to deliver and support our young people and care leavers aged 16 years old in a 24/7 Staffed Supported Accommodation home in South East London. Dwelling Places Homes is a long standing family-run organisation dedicated to providing quality person-centered care to young people and care leavers aged 16 - 18 years old in Supported Accommodation homes. As a Support Worker, you will promote independence, encourage and support service users in their day-to-day lives, enabling them to live more fulfilling lives, whilst helping provide high-quality person-centered care. This could include a range of tasks and activities such as personal care, domestic tasks and general activities that allow the individual to live their lives in the way they choose. Key Responsibilities: Manage young people living semi-independently in the community; you will be responsible in structuring daily routines consistent with an independent placement agreement. Monitor the young person’s ability to engage with everyday living and develop skills where necessary by supporting their identified needs. Support the young person in settling within the community and accessing local resources. Encourage and support the young person in accessing education, training or employment as well as supporting them with any application process. Support and assist the young person around budgeting money, grocery shopping and administer a weekly subsistence allowance. Encourage the young person to engage and take part with positive activities within the community, building on relationships and developing social networks. Administrative work and record keeping associated with key working responsibilities and the daily running of the home. Maintain petty cash and receipts for each expenditure. To maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the accommodation, leading by example and encouraging our young people to do the same. Work with your line manager and the young person to develop a structured programme and support plan based upon the young person’s individual support needs and focused on developing their self confidence and esteem. Promote safe, consistent and understandable boundaries with the young person in conjunction with a 'Young Person’s Agreement’. Encourage the young person to take an active part in the local community, building relationships and maintaining social networks. Prepare high standard monthly progress reports regarding the young person’s progress which are submitted to the placing authority. Complete required paperwork/ administration and key work sessions as directed. Work in partnership with other agencies and support the young people to attend meetings with other professionals. You will be required to attend admission and planning meetings; and attend Looked After Children’s Reviews ensuring all relevant paperwork is complete. You will be responsible to carry out weekly Health and Safety checks within the accommodation. You must record and report any repair work or damage to the property to ensure it is kept to a high standard. Maintain confidentiality of young people and report any concerns regarding the young person’s welfare to your line manager. Attend staff meetings and training sessions as and when required. Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and report these effectively. Personal: To act as a role model and guide for young people setting principles and examples. To make use of regular professional supervision. To report to a line manager or other appropriate person, malpractice or evidence which may suggest it. To have the right mix of empathy, a can-do attitude, respond well to criticism and great communications skills. Essential: Full Enhanced DBS. Minimum of 2 years experience working with children and/or young people or/and Teaching/teaching assistance background. NVQ level 2 Health and social care/Level 2 diploma in residential child care/willingness to work towards it or alternative qualifications. Computer literate. Willing to travel to our homes across South London and the surrounding areas. Desirable: Previous experience as a key worker. Formal Qualification in Teaching/Teaching Assistant/Facilitation. Interest/experience in working with SEND children and young people. Work Conditions: Ability to lone work with individual young people. Willing to work evenings and weekends on a rota basis. Willing to work additional hours to cover sickness and holidays and to work in other homes within our portfolio. Willing to work Bank Holidays & Christmas Holidays. Have good medical health. Job Type: Zero hours contract with the potential to move to a fixed hour contract. Pay: From £11.44 per hour.
