The City of Edinburgh Council is recruiting Experienced Vehicle Maintenance Technicians to support the Fleet Workshops department in the full maintenance, servicing, and upkeep of a diverse range of HGV and Light commercial vehicles, including refuse collection trucks, street cleansing sweepers, cars, and vans. The department has recently seen significant investment in excess of £50m as part of a project to fund upgrading our current fleet assets as well as invest in brand new workshop facilities.
These posts will further support the current team in maintaining a number of assets, both Council-owned and equipment for external customers. The Council is looking for time-served individuals with an extensive background in maintaining either heavy goods or passenger commercial vehicles. You will be expected to deliver all forms of maintenance, both planned and unplanned, and participate in the provision of a standby breakdown cover rota. If you've got the right skills for the job, we want to hear from you.
The salary package is enhanced by a minimum of 32 days leave per year, rising to a maximum of 40 days per year depending on continuous service, generous employer pension contributions, and numerous employee benefits, such as Green Car scheme, Cycle to work, Lifestyle savings, and Gym membership.
We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included, and able to be their best at work, and we recognize the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experiences, and backgrounds brings to us as an organization.
As part of our goal to improve our organizational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we're bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.
To help achieve this, we're changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioral and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity, and Flexibility into your ways of working.
You can find out more on Our Behaviours web page Our Behaviours - The City of Edinburgh Council.
Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
