Introduction:
A young lady with Autism is looking to employ a Female Personal Assistant (this is claimed under the exemption Equality Act 2020 section 21) to support with her care needs. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable her to manage her support and meet her care needs independently. The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the young lady.
The main duties to be included within this role are:
• Providing for personal care needs such as washing, dressing and helping with meals.
• Supporting her with walks and shopping but being aware she has no awareness around money. In shops, if bright items catch her eye she will pick them up without understanding they need to be paid for.
• Support her to interact socially in her community but because of her limited awareness of personal safety, she requires safeguarding at all times when out by roads etc.
• Providing support with her interests, playing games, crafts and music.
• Supporting her to develop independent living skills.
• To provide companionship to her when at home, including engaging in conversation with her and providing her with social interaction.
• Ensuring her safety at all times during your working hours.
• To carry out any other reasonable tasks that her family requests during your working hours.
• Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority.
• Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.

• Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties
• Good communicator
• Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship
Other Requirements:
A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
