Job Details
Fife Council provides Temporary Accommodation for homeless customers awaiting statutory assessment or allocation of a permanent tenancy where no other suitable accommodation option is available to them.
Housing support services are offered to our homeless customers following a full support assessment leading to an agreed support plan. Support is delivered in a manner and at a time suitable to the needs of the customer whilst maintaining a Trauma Informed Approach at all times.
The service is offered Fife wide and worked on a rota basis which includes unsocial hours for which an enhancement is provided.
Working with homeless customers within a Temporary Accommodation setting - Hostels, Hotels, B&B and Scatter Flat accommodation throughout Fife.
The aim of the role is:
1. Providing support to service users enabling them to maintain their temporary accommodation before progressing into permanent housing options suited to their needs.
2. Building positive and supportive relationships with service users and assisting them to find solutions and coping mechanisms for the issues creating barriers to a positive outcome.
3. Working creatively and innovatively to meet their support needs.
4. Responding to emergency situations arising from potentially complex needs and challenging behaviours.
5. Having a knowledge and understanding of housing and homelessness legislation and the issues affecting homeless households.
6. Having a working knowledge of a Trauma Informed Approach to homeless customers.
The Person
The benchmark qualification for this role includes SVQ Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF level 6 or Social Services Children and Young People SCQF 6.
You will be able to demonstrate:
* A commitment to delivering high quality support
* Strong communication, interpersonal and IT skills
* Demonstrate behaviours that reflect those outlined in the SSSC Codes of Practice for Social Services Workers and Employers
* An ability to work independently in the community and as part of a team
* Flexibility to work on a rota basis, including unsocial hours.
Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.
If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you're registered within the required six months.
