Job Description:
An exciting job opportunity has arisen for a committed Ward Manager to work in an exceptional hospital based in the Attleborough, Norfolk area. You will be working for one of the UK’s leading health care providers.
This hospital is a large bedded mental health centre which provides care to adolescents and young adults, aged 12 upwards, who have complex needs, including acute mental illness and developmental disorders.
To be considered for this position you must be qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse with a current active NMC Pin.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Being a clear leader for the Nursing team and managing shifts.
2. Providing high quality care for adult patients.
3. Developing therapeutic relationships to optimise patient engagement.
4. Following all codes of conduct, standards and legislation, respecting the rights of others and promoting ethical practice.
5. Contributing to patient assessments, compiling a plan of care alongside the individual, and monitoring patient progress.
6. Mentoring and supporting student nurses and other members of the team.
7. Promoting professional development within the team.
8. Developing a culture of learning from lessons on the ward and encouraging delivery of a professional service.
9. Leading the team by being a positive role model in all aspects of the work.
10. Ensuring care and treatment is delivered in collaboration with the patient and carer.
11. Providing direction, support, and guidance to the staff ensuring all staff have regular supervisions.
12. Responsible for the quality of care delivered and that all compliance requirements are met.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
1. Post registration qualification of at least 3 years.
2. Experience in ‘acute adult service’ would be advantageous but not essential.
3. Experience in a supervisory role.
4. A recognised mentoring certificate is preferable.
5. The ability to assess and teach junior staff.
6. A proven ability to co-ordinate care, prioritise tasks, and manage Health & Safety issues.
7. The drive to learn and develop.
8. A commitment to patient-centred care and to values-based and evidence-based practice.
9. A flexible, positive, team-orientated approach.
Salary and Benefits:
The successful Ward Manager will receive an excellent salary of £45,668 per annum. This exciting position is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours a week. In return for your hard work and commitment, you will receive the following generous benefits:
