Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable and proactive Night Porter to join our team at Best Western Hotel Glasgow. Working from 11pm to 7am, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the hotel during the night, providing exceptional service to our guests and handling various operational duties. This role includes responsibilities such as preparing the breakfast room, performing regular security checks, and assisting with reception tasks to maintain the highest standards of service and safety throughout the night.
Responsibilities
1. Welcome late arrivals, assist with check-ins and check-outs, and handle guest queries professionally and efficiently.
2. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in public areas, including lobbies, hallways, and restrooms.
3. Conduct regular security patrols throughout the property to ensure the safety of guests and staff.
4. Monitor access points and respond to any unusual activity or emergencies in line with hotel procedures.
5. Secure all public areas, including locking doors and ensuring restricted areas remain off-limits.
6. Respond promptly to guest requests and inquiries, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
7. Monitor the condition of facilities and report any maintenance issues to management.
8. Provide information about local attractions, services, and hotel amenities to guests.
9. Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless operations within the hotel environment.
10. Prepare the breakfast room for service by setting up tables, organizing utensils, and restocking supplies.
11. Perform light cleaning tasks such as tidying public areas, ensuring the lobby, hallways, and dining area are clean and welcoming.
12. Coordinate with the housekeeping team to address any immediate cleaning needs.
13. Act as the first point of contact during emergencies, such as fire alarms or medical incidents.
14. Follow hotel protocols for evacuations, liaise with emergency services, and keep guests informed as necessary.
15. Handle incoming phone calls and emails, take reservations, and update guest bookings in the hotel management system.
16. Process payments, issue invoices, and maintain accurate records of transactions.
17. Prepare end-of-day reports, ensuring all financial and operational information is correctly logged.
Skills
1. Strong guest service skills with a focus on hospitality and creating positive experiences for visitors.
2. Prior experience in a hotel or similar customer-facing role is preferred.
3. Excellent communication skills.
4. Proficient phone etiquette for handling inquiries and reservations effectively.
5. Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
6. Attention to detail and strong organisational skills to maintain cleanliness and order throughout the premises.
7. Comfortable working nights, weekends, and public holidays.
