What you'll be doing
As a Finance Manager, you will:
* Support the Major Project Senior Finance Managers in developing the finance business partnering role and developing and maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
* Provide finance business partnering support to the Major Project business.
* Deliver regular financial and management accounting reporting across the business that is accurate, timely and insightful. Reporting to include (but not exhaustive):
1. Month-end input into HFM System
2. Month-end input into PBCS System
3. Weekly flash reporting and risk & opportunity schedule
4. 13-week cashflow reporting and variance analysis
5. Aged WIP reporting
6. Unexecuted forecasts
* Attend quarterly balance sheet reviews to provide constructive challenge to the reported numbers, ensuring they are accurate and in line with group policy.
* Provide support in maintaining and approving CVRs ensuring they are completed and in-line with group policy.
* Support the Senior Finance Managers in delivering their annual financial plans providing ad-hoc analysis and support where required.
* Attend and present (where relevant) at the monthly Project Reviews.
* Play a key role in the quarterly forecasting (including weekly flash updates) and annual budget process.
* Support the business in identifying and tracking initiatives and efficiencies both short and long term.
* Provide input and assist in project establishment and set up as required.
* Ensure Project Delegated Authorities and Key Member roles are maintained, are up-to-date and in-line with Group and Division guidelines.
* Liaise with internal and external audit as required.
* Provide technical contract understanding to ensure that financial rules are followed in line with Group procedure and accounting for complicated contract mechanisms.
* Lead by example – working with the leadership team to develop a strong learning culture, improving the engagement of the wider finance team and promoting a culture of continued improvement.
* Value-Add – look for tangible ways to make Balfour Beatty money and hold on to cash for longer, through working with teams to develop commercial initiatives or to challenge the status quo.
* Control – ensuring that the balance sheet is correct, and there are robust controls in place to manage our business and ensure there are no surprises.
Who we're looking for
Personal Qualities and Experience:

* Qualified accountant with a recognised professional body.
* Demonstrable ability to form effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders.
* Ability to manage challenging situations.
* Pro-active and highly motivated.
* Resilience and tenacity.
* Strong Excel and system skills.
* Sound financial and commercial acumen.
* Sound knowledge of Finance ERP systems.
* In-depth knowledge of Long Term Contract Accounting.
* An understanding of large construction projects.
