Monarch Education are working on an exciting project to deliver literacy and numeracy to Afghan refugees who are currently integrating into the UK. Monarch are employing a number of tutors to deliver this program. The role of ISO will be to oversee a small number of tutors and provide feedback on outcomes and ongoing assessment.
Working on Loughborough site (child and adult education).
Duties of the Role Include:
Before Education Starts:
* Children must be registered with the following details: Full name, Age, Address, Gender.
* Children must be assessed to gather information on proficiency level in English.
* Once assessed, ISO must organise and group children based on Key Stage and English proficiency (Spreadsheet). Children need to be in suitable age groups e.g. KS1 and KS2 or KS3 and KS4. Some of our groups are older KS2 and younger KS3 to make work with tutor numbers.
* ISO to organise tutor groups and assign children and groups on Affinity tutoring to ensure correct registration.
* A timetable must be made and sent to parents to invite children at the correct time and day. This must include the child's full name, house number, and street so parents are aware. This can be sent by translators on site via WhatsApp.
* Speak with Local Authority regarding registration of children for missing education.
During Daily Education:
* Welcome children and ensure correct children are with the correct tutor.
* Tutor own group.
* At the end of sessions, ISO must ensure all children of KS2 and below are collected by an adult - if not, communicate with translator and they will contact the family to collect children.
* Note any child absences.
First check with MOD to see if the family has moved to settled housing.
Second, ask WSO or translators to contact the family and find the reason why they were not in attendance.
General Planning and Assessment:
* Check with MOD and WSO about new families on site - contact them to assess children so they are invited to daily education.
* Intake of resources and deliveries.
* Answering questions from families regarding education on site.
* Updating weekly timetables and affinity tutors with children leaving and joining the site.
Working on Sites (Adult Education - Daily 12:15-13:45 and 14:30-16:00):
* Register adult interest - can be done in a weekly meeting held by MOD or at another time.
* Collect Full names, genders, and house address. Depending on numbers, adults may need to be timetabled to allow for group sizes.
* During the first session, ask adults to self-assess their English level (translator needs to be present) and based on numbers assign tutors to groups.
* If families join or leave, this should be noted on registration information.
Any safeguarding concerns should be reported.
