About the role:
Reporting to the Chief Engineer and based at JCB Transmissions in Wrexham, North Wales, this is a role for a driveline specialist supporting axle, transmission and control system application assessment. The position is for an Engineer with experience of driveline components including casings, gears, shafts, bearings, brakes, clutches, suspension and steering systems. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of product design on a range of exciting and new off-highway vehicles. The candidate will join a highly focussed team that provides driveline solutions to the entire JCB Group worldwide as well as OEM customers.
What does this role involve day to day?
1. Driveline component and system design in a multi-project environment practising simultaneous engineering including design for manufacture, assembly and service
2. Developing and validating new analysis methods and product specifications
3. Establishment of load cases for new and existing applications
4. Studying new and existing driveline products for new applications
5. Presentation of design and performance predictions through a gated project review process
6. Creation of formal design documentation including FMEA and DVPSOR
7. Supporting the Technical Review process for JCB and OEM driveline components
8. Liaising with internal and external customers
This will be suited to you if:
1. You have driveline component and system design experience
2. You have new product experience (from initial concept to product launch), writing, developing and validating engineering specifications
3. You have in-depth fundamental understanding of material performance including fatigue
4. You possess professional experience Siemens’ NX CAD (or similar)
5. You have off Highway or heavy-duty powertrain experience preferred but related industry experience using a diverse materials range will be considered
