The role of a Plant Maintenance Technician is to participate in the Total and Preventive Maintenance (TPM) for all equipment and facilities.
General Responsibilities:
1. Install, repair and maintain all equipment and facilities.
2. Analyse mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
3. Try out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
4. Record operational data, such as pressure readings, length of stroke, feeds and speeds for use in set-up and preventive maintenance records.
5. Review production schedule and, when equipment is not scheduled for production, perform scheduled maintenance.
6. Participate in Production System Efficiency and Quality System Efficiency workshops to support continuous improvement: propose and implement continuous productivity, process and quality improvement actions for all facilities.
7. Facilitate equipment moves on the shop floor.
8. Give advice on technical specifications of new equipment and alterations on existing equipment and facilities, ensuring manufacturing, maintainability and Health, Safety & Environmental requirements are met.
9. Set up requisitions for supplies, equipment and facilities.
10. Participate in the management of the inventory of spare parts and consumables to eliminate downtime.
11. Track the ratio of expenses against budget and monitor quality, cost and delivery objectives given to external companies when intervening: subcontracting, ordinary and major maintenance actions, energy, security systems.
12. Keep up to date documentation related to maintenance.
13. Train operators on the safe operation of production equipment.
14. Perform a start of shift safety sign-off to ensure that all safety features on assigned equipment are operational.
Desired candidate will have/be:
* Working knowledge of Mechanical/Electrical/Pneumatic systems.
* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
* Understanding of Ergonomic systems.
* Working knowledge of Health and Safety Systems.
* Fully conversant in Microsoft Office and associated software.
* HNC Mechanical /Electrical /Production Engineering or similar level equivalent qualification.
* Experience in an Automotive industry or similar environment.
