We enhance society together Role Overview The role will contribute to the development and growth of Coastal Modelling Group based within the Maritime UK AG which provides numerical modelling services to internal clients and external clients. The team are integral for work carried out for the planning and design of coastal structures including breakwaters, revetments, sea walls, intakes and outfalls, coastal processes modelling, and environmental consenting work. General Responsibilities Collection and collation of input data Process data. The candidate must have numerical and analytic skills in pre/post-processing data. Carry out coastal hydrodynamic modelling, wave modelling and dispersion & dilution modelling with support from senior staff. Provide judgment and advice to engineering and environmental teams. Contribute to the use of digital technology to improve processes and efficiencies. Preparation of reports and presentations. Commercial and technical management of projects within the office, ensuring projects show a profitable result and are completed to an agreed programme. Carry out any duties which your line manager may reasonably request within the broad parameters of your role. Profile Enthusiastic and personable Strong technical ability in data analysis and modelling and a desire to extend this aspect in your Good team player to contribute to dynamic group Good communicator (Written and verbal) Commercially aware Interest in Digital Solutions Qualifications & Experience Meng/MSc or PhD with final thesis on one of the following subjects: Hydro-informatics with focus on coastal modelling techniques; Water quality modelling ( modelling experience is not essential but a good knowledge of water quality and bio-chemical processes and interest in numerical modelling is important) Coastal morphology and sediment transport modelling (modelling experience is not essential but a good knowledge of coastal processes and interest in numerical modelling is important); Application of CFD modelling in maritime or water industry; Application of statistical analysis in coastal and river studies with skill in Python and R programming Ability in mainstream GIS software and programming languages (such as Python and R) is preferable. You will have a strong technical ability in data analysis and modelling and a desire to develop this aspect in your career.
