Job overview
An exciting opportunity to work within the Trust Transport Department as required. The driver is responsible for driving service users/patients to A&E and outpatient departments, transferring patients between different Mersey Care units including high secure units, and transporting staff, goods, and trust visitors using appropriate trust vehicles.
Main duties of the job
1. Transport all Mersey Care service users/patients between different units, hospital appointments, and other necessary locations.
2. Participate in training, including mandatory training as required.
3. Adhere to Trust and departmental procedures.
4. Conduct daily vehicle maintenance checks and ensure vehicles are clean and fit for purpose.
5. Record accurate information regarding duties, driving hours, mileage, and other required information.
6. Report all untoward incidents and accidents to the line manager.
7. Assist patients and staff in entering and exiting the vehicle safely.
8. Liaise with clinical staff regarding any concerns with service users.
9. Work an ‘On call’ service as necessary to ensure a continuous 24-hour transport service.
Person specification
Skills
* Clean full UK driving licence
* D1 entitlement on driving licence
* Ability to carry out manual and driving tasks and support management objectives.
* Able to communicate effectively with service users and staff.
* Ability to use GPS and perform data entry tasks.
Knowledge and experience
* Excellent geographical knowledge of Merseyside Area and the UK.
* Experience of working in the NHS.
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
* Certificate of professional competence (CPC).
