About this opportunity
We have exciting opportunities for dedicated and qualified Social Workers to be part of our Cared for and Support and Protect Teams. We are looking for motivated, hard-working, and dedicated people to join our teams to help develop and deliver exceptional service to improve outcomes for children and families in Westmorland and Furness.
About our teams
Support and Protect Team: The role is varied as we work with families on a short-term basis while completing assessments and on a longer-term basis working on Child in Need Plans and Child Protection Plans. We also complete pre-proceedings work and issue care proceedings, working with young people from birth to 18 years, having strong links with other agencies and teams in Westmorland.
Cared For Team: You will work with children currently cared for by the Local Authority, ensuring they have the right care plan to reach their potential, or alongside young people who are leaving or have left care, assisting them in gaining independence. You will also be responsible for assessing children seeking asylum.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for Social Workers with a ‘can do’ attitude who are child-focused, creative in their planning, and able to inspire trust and confidence among professionals across various agencies. Successful experience in a similar role and good knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is essential.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and requires an enhanced DBS check with a Children’s/Adults Barred List check. It is an offence for barred individuals to apply for roles requiring them to work unsupervised with adults and children.
